Be Wholehearted

What does it really mean to be whole, complete, living and operating from the heart and in one's true beauty everyday? Working in the beauty profession and with women for the past 18 years provided the opportunity to get a glimpse into many women's lives, and I've often found that something was missing. There was a piece to the puzzle most women including myself at the time were longing to discover. A piece that was often being filled by outward appearances and false beauty. There is certainly nothing wrong with looking beautiful however when we start to identify ourselves with that alone, here is where the problem lies. The truth is true beauty comes from the heart and not from our outward appearances alone, contrary to what the world may teach us.  I also took notice of the constant striving for physical approval from others which often left most women looking to a societal standard of beauty. Our culture will often teach us women that being "whole" means having it all together, leaving us to assess our physical and mental state. However, God speaks a different message. God our creator, teaches us women that true beauty is found in the heart and our wholeness is complete through honoring the truth he speaks about us.  This foundational truth and heart transformation will then lead to a greater desire to honour our physical, mental, and most importantly spiritual health.  This truth never changes and because of this we are able to love ourselves wholeheartedly and in return truly love others including our spouses, friends, children, family members, and our neighbours even deeper.

“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.” - 1 Peter 3:3-4
